This is my hound dog, Peanut. I know. She is gorgeous.
She is a Bassefab. Part Basset. Part Fabulous.
I created this portrait from a photograph. I printed it onto muslin using my inkjet printer. I added paint, adhered it to a canvas, then added more paint. The whole process was really quite easy. If you'd like more instructions or have specific questions about the technique, leave me a comment and I will be glad to walk you through the process.
Until then, I completely understand if you need to simply sit and stare at the beauty of Peanut.
Peanut looks wonderful in pink!
ReplyDeleteI think my tiger cat, Lucky, would love to see himself on canvas! I have some of that iron-on transfer paper around here somewhere...
Did you use that stuff to get the image on the fabric?
I am cheap, so I just ironed cotton muslin onto a piece of freezer paper and cut it to be 8.5 x 11. It worked beautifully in my simple ink jet printer. I added color with watered-down acrylics. You have to be careful not to get the image too wet as the ink smears and bleeds. I liked this effect, but too much would have completely distorted the beauty of Queen Nut.
ReplyDeleteI hope you try it! Let me know if you do. Send pics!
Well I haven't been to town yet to get freezer paper, so I can try your technique. But I did have some vintage papers and a cut-up cereal box to mess around with. I posted pics today...

I love this piece, I am looking for the perfect Lexi picture so I can hire you to make me the perfect Lexi photo.
ReplyDeleteSounds very fun. You might need to have a Lexi photo shoot.
ReplyDeleteFinally got the freezer paper today. They only had this HUGE box that's 150 square feet total - any ideas on what to do with the extra 148 square feet? :o)
ReplyDeleteNow that is a lot of paper. I see lots of ink jet printing on fabric... or lots of frozen meats wrapped in white paper.
ReplyDeleteI want to see what you make!
Too funny. The big box of freezer paper has been sitting here taunting me. Can't wait to print something. Or wrap something.
ReplyDeleteIt's done! That was fun. I see what you mean about using too much water. Some of my attempts pretty much ended up as watercolor paintings on fabric. I wrote about it today, and included a link to your blog. If you'd rather me not link to you, just let me know and I'll remove it. Just wanted you to get some kudos for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI stopped by and loved your piece! I love your little birdy!
